Eastern Mennonite Downs Guilford, 4-0, In ODAC Women's Soccer

Box Score

Sophomore forward Ellie Lind (Durban, S. Africa/Three Rivers) scored twice in Eastern Mennonite's 4-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's soccer win at Guilford Wednesday. The win extends the Royals' (8-2, 4-2 ODAC) winning streak to four games.

Lind put the visitors on the board in the 37th minute on a penalty kick after she was taken down inside the penalty area by Guilford junior Alex Hutton (Memphis, TN/Hutchison).

Junior midfielder Deborah Good (Washington, DC/Lancaster Mennonite (PA)) put away a rebound of a Jennifer Morey (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) shot that was initially stopped by Guilford goaltender Brandee Adams (Hillsborough, NJ/Princeton Day) to give Eastern Mennonite a 2-0 lead 10 minutes into the second half. Freshman forward Audra Baker (Lebanon, OR/Western Mennonite) struck five minutes later with a 20-yard blast from a narrow angle that deflected off of Adams' hand and into the top far corner of the net for a 3-0 Royals' advantage. The goal marked Baker's team-leading eighth of the season.

With Guilford pressing forward, Lind tallied her second goal of the game off a cross from rookie forward Kendra Martin (Nevron, PA/Garden Spot). Martin attracted the defense by streaking down the far side of the field and hit the open Lind in front of an open goal.

Guilford's best scoring chance came in the 85th minute when senior forward Amy Evans (New Bern, NC/New Bern) struck a penalty kick off the crossbar.
