Box Score Greensboro, N.C. (9/30/08) -- Ellie Taylor headed home the match's lone goal with 40 seconds left in the second overtime visiting as Guilford College defeated Greensboro College, 1-0, at Pride Field on Tuesday.
Greesnboro, playing it's sixth overtime contest in 10 games, dropped to 3-5-2. Guilford improved to 3-7.
On the scoring play, from the right corner Jackie D'Orseano crossed a ball that skidded along the cross bar before trickling to Taylor, who was alone on the far post. She headed the ball in for the score.
The Pride adamantly protested that the cross went out of bounds, wide of the goal line. After conferring with his linesman, the referee officially awarded the goal to the visitors.
The evenly matched affair saw Greensboro outshoot Guilford 15-14. The Pride also had the lead in corners, 4-2.
Katie Allegro had eight saves for The Pride. Ambler Stapler stopped seven shots for her second shutout of the season.
