Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. (10/13/10) -- Amir Moore's goal in the 83rd minute lifted Guilford College to a 2-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's soccer win over visiting Hampden-Sydney College Wednesday night.
Moore took a pass from Michael Robles near the top of the box, beat a defender and launched a high shot past Tigers' keeper John Robert Plyler with 7:51 left in the match. Moore's second goal of the season sent the Quakers to their third win in four matches. The Quakers are 8-3-3 overall this season (4-1-1 ODAC), 8-1-3 in their last 12 matches.
Hampden-Sydney (4-8-1, 1-4-1 ODAC), the preseason ODAC favorite, owned a 25-15 edge in shots, five of which reached the goal. Bryan Wharton's team-leading seventh goal of the season 8:03 into the second half tied the game at 1-1. Guilford's Freddy Gomez opened the scoring with a first-half penalty kick.
Guilford goalie Marko Mandalinic made four saves in his second straight victory. Plyer had two saves for the Tigers.
