Five-Seed Women’s Soccer Faces Fourth-Seeded Randolph-Macon in ODAC Tournament Showdown

Quakers in playoffs for third consecutive season

GREENSBORO, N.C.-The fifth-seeded Guilford College women's soccer team, draw fourth-seeded Randolph-Macon College and will head north to compete in what projects as a tremendous ODAC Tournament Quarterfinals matchup on Tuesday evening at Nunnally Field.

After a strong 12-4-2 season, including a 6-3-1 ODAC record, the Quakers are aiming for their first postseason victory since 2006–a year in which they triumphed over Randolph-Macon, also in the Quarterfinals round. Historically, Randolph-Macon holds the advantage with an 9-29-4 record against Guilford, but the Quakers have been turning the tide in this matchup of late, breaking even in each of their last two matchups, including a 1-1 draw in September of this season.

Guilford's offense has been led by a potent trio this season, with Naomi Anderson (Youngsville, N.C.) at the forefront. Anderson has recorded nine goals and four assists, tallying an impressive 22 points and a 57% shot-on-goal accuracy, making her a consistent threat in the attacking third. Among those scores, she has an ODAC-leading five game-winning tallies to rank 13th in the nation. Jenna Shotton (Walnut Cove, N.C.) has added to the offensive power with six goals and three assists, while Mya Rivera (Parish, Fla.) has contributed five goals and five assists, making her a versatile playmaker. Together, this trio has combined for 20 goals and 12 assists, accounting for the majority of the Quakers' scoring and proving to be a crucial part of Guilford's success this season.

Guilford's back line of Kylee Berry (Kernersville, N.C.), Kylie Muse (Browns Summit, N.C.), Andrea Cazares-Vasquez (Durham, N.C.) and Mya Jarvis (Clemmons, N.C), have been equally impressive. They have recorded 12 clean sheets, a new program record, and boast a shutout percentage of .667, ranking second in the ODAC and 25th nationally. The Quakers have only conceded 14 goals this season, trailing just Washington & Lee in the conference.

Ady Franken (Peoria, Ill.) will get the nod in net for Guilford, bringing an impressive record of 10-4-2, including nine clean sheets, with 12 goals conceded across 1,441 minutes of gameplay. Her .860 save percentage places her third in the ODAC.
