Cross Country Releases 2024 Schedule

Quakers projected to feature deepest rosters in recent memory

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Projected to feature their largest rosters in years, the Guilford College men's and women's cross country teams enter the 2024 season with high hopes as they released their 2024 schedule on Tuesday morning.

The Quakers did not factor into the placings a season ago at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship race, as they only had a single runner compete in each of the men's and women's races, but now as they expect to have the numbers to score, they look to compete with the conference's best.

"This schedule will get us some good competition," Head Coach Kevin Scola said. "We are a young team, so they will all get to see what college running is like against some of the best teams in the area. This should prepare us well for ODACs, then moving into Indoor and Outdoor (Track & Field)."

Guilford will open up their 2024 season on the first weekend of September, making the short trip over to Elon University to run in the Elon Opener on Friday, September 6th. This will be the first time the cardinal and grey will compete in the Elon Opener since 2021.

The Quakers follow that up by heading to another race hosted by an in-state Division-I school as for the first time since 2017 they will compete in the Adidas XC Challenge on Saturday, September 14th, hosted by NC State.

On Sunday, September 22nd, GC heads over to the Yeti Invitational hosted by Cleveland Community College. The second consecutive year Guilford will compete at this event, the Quakers saw multiple runners post season-best placings at this race a season ago.

Another event the cardinal and grey competed at last year, Guilford heads over to Livingstone College to run at the Livingstone XC Challenge after a near three-week hiatus from competition. That race is scheduled to occur on Saturday, October 12th and will be the team's final tune-up before the conference championship meet.

The Quakers will race next on Sunday, October 27th, a date that will serve as championship Sunday with the ODAC Championship meet. The host school and location of the event has yet to be announced by the conference at this time.

The Quakers will then vie for spots at the NCAA Championship meet at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship race. The host school for the event this year will be Millsaps College and it will occur on Saturday, November 9th.

Event times, are to be announced at a later date. Competition dates and events are subject to change, visit GuilfordQuakers.com to stay up to date on the latest.
