GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Guilford College women's lacrosse team saw
Maggie Hartnett (Hebron, Maine),
Natalia Rubio (Greensboro, N.C.), and
Leyla Strong (Concord, N.C.) named to the 2025 Academic Honor Roll while the Quakers as a team also earned 2025 Academic Honor Squad status from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.
To earn the distinction at the team level, a program must record a 3.2 GPA as a collective with GC standing as one-of-376 schools across NCAA Division I, II, and III, as well as NAIA to reach that threshold in 2025. For individuals to qualify, they must post a 3.5 GPA or better and have to be an academic upperclassman as a junior, senior, or graduate student to get the distinction.
An Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) All-Conference Second Team pick as well as a member of the last two College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, Harnett continues to collect hardware for her impressive career both athletically and academically this summer. Playing in 16 games this spring with 15 starts, she led the Quakers virtually every major statistic for field players including points, goals, assists, caused turnovers, and groundballs, cracking the national top-200 in some of those statistics. Playing her fifth season of eligibility studying in the Guilford Masters of International Sports Management program, Hartnett boasted a flawless 4.00 GPA after completing her undergraduate degree in Sports Management with a 3.52 GPA.
Rubio is another Guilford Women's Lacrosse player with a reputation for upholding the highest academic standards as she is also a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree. An integral member of the Quakers defense, she started all 17 games on the backline, finishing as one-of-five players to start every contest for the cardinal and grey, causing ten turnovers and collecting 15 groundballs along the way. Academically, Rubio features a 3.63 GPA and studies Sports Management.
Made all the more impressive by her status as a dual-sport athlete, also competing on the Guilford Women's Soccer squad, Strong claims the recognition at the finish of her first season on the Quakers lacrosse team this spring. Accruing eight caused turnovers and nine groundballs, Strong started all 17 contests this spring as a member of GC's defensive unit. A double-major studying both Health Sciences and Exercise and Sport Sciences at Guilford, Strong owns a 3.75 GPA.
As a team, the women's lacrosse program notched a 3.312 GPA collectively to claim Academic Honor Squad honors.
