Greensboro, NC (03/12/01) – Sophomore midfielder Melissa Urann (Plymouth, MA/Falmouth Academy) scored a career-high five goals to help Guilford's women's lacrosse past host Greensboro Monday afternoon, 11-8. The win marks the Quakers' first this season and first-year head coach Tara Caminiti-Raggett's first at Guilford.
Guilford (1-3) trailed 4-1 midway through the first half before scoring eight straight goals to establish a commanding 9-4 lead 10 minutes into the second half. Six players added one goal apiece to give the Quakers 11 goals, the team's most since a 12-9 win over Pfeiffer April 13, 1999.
The Pride (0-2) pulled within 10-8 on sophomore attack Lorin Smith's (Davidsonville, MA/South River) fourth goal of the game with just over four minutes remaining. The Quakers got the final word in when freshman midfielder Sarah Marshall (Bethel, ME/Gould Academy) put a pass from senior attack Kate Allen (Cumberland, RI/Lincoln School) in the net, sealing the victory with 44 seconds remaining.
Guilford returns home on Wednesday (3/14) for a 4:00 match against ODAC rival Washington and Lee.
