Guilford Downs Lynchburg, 62-47

Greensboro, N.C. (2/11/09) -- Guilford College defeated Lynchburg College, 62-47, in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball action Wednesday night in the Ragan-Brown Field House. The Quakers' defense held the Hornets to 21 first-half points and built a 10-point halftime lead.

The win gives Guilford (10-12, 9-8 ODAC) a split of the season series with the Hornets and marks its triumph over Lynchburg in four games. The Quakers have won three of their last four games.

Guilford was led by Ann Seufer's game- and season-high 21 points and eight rebounds. Tracey Croner and Alexandria Miles added 17 points and 12 points, respectively. However the difference came at the free-throw line where Guilford shot a blistering 20-22 from the charity stripe, including all 13 attempts in the second half. Lynchburg struggled from the line, shooting only 4-for-13.

Lynchburg's (8-13, 6-10 ODAC) Kristina Darby led the way with a team-high 14 points, four assists and three steals in the loss.

The Quakers continue their four-game home stand to end the regular season by hosting Randolph College Tuesday (2/17) at 7:00 p.m. Lynchburg travels to Virginia Beach to take on Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday (2/14) at 4:00 p.m.
