Women’s Basketball’s Hall and Scott Named Academic All-District by CSC

Quakers duo honored for great work on the court, in the classroom

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Jael Hall (Charlotte, N.C.) and Briahna Scott (Graham, N.C.) of the Guilford College women's basketball team were recognized on the Collegiate Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team for their performance as students and athletes, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

In order to qualify for the honor in basketball, student-athletes must be at least an academic and athletic sophomore, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher in the classroom. Meanwhile, a nominee must have competed in 90% of the team's total games played, or start in 66% of the team's total games. No more than four student-athletes may be a nominee in basketball per school, per gender.

Appearing in 24 of the team's 26 games with one start, Hall was a quality role player for the Quakers this season. She contributed 4.3 points on .323/.241/.607 from the field but had some pop games, including 11 points against Hollins on Senior Day and a baker's dozen against Averett in November. Hall snared 32 rebounds, evenly split offensively and defensively, while she also came away with 25 steals on the defensive end. Off the court, Hall is pursuing her degree in Exercise & Sport Sciences and owns a 3.70 GPA.

A do-it-all wing, Scott had a strong first season in a starting role for Guilford, getting the nod in 25 of her 26 games played. The team's third-leading scorer, Scott shot .359/.296/.695 on her way to 7.5 points per contest. Grabbing 3.5 rebounds, her 40 total offensive boards this season were second on the roster while her 41 assists ranked third on the team. A versatile and adept defender, Scott was third on the team in both blocks and steals as well, with 12 and 52 respectively. Academically, the sophomore holds a 3.64 GPA in GC's Exercise & Sport Sciences program.
