FOREST, Va. – Courtney McMillan (Lexington, N.C.) was named to the All-ODAC second team and
Zoe Bayer (Les Sables d'Olonne, France) joined her by receiving third team recognition for the Guilford College women's basketball team as announced by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) offices on Thursday morning.
The Quakers are one of five teams to land multiple all-conference selections, Randolph-Macon led the way with a quartet of selections while Bridgewater College and Shenandoah University picked up three apiece. This also marks the third-consecutive season in which GC has had multiple All-ODAC selections.
McMillan maintains her all-conference second team status this season after getting named to the same squad a season ago. The honor is well-earned for the senior who paced the team in scoring, rebounding, steals, and field goal percentage, playing and starting in all 26 games for GC. Ranking 62
nd nationally and second in the ODAC in total steals, with 67, McMillan made her presence felt on both ends of the floor by also ranking fifth in the conference in points per game, netting 13.1 with a .494 field goal percentage that also ranked fifth among qualifiers. On the glass, McMillan secured 5.9 rebounds per contest including 2.6 on the offensive end with the later mark ranking tied for tenth in the league. Aggressive attacking the basket, she was also a frequent flier to the charity stripe with her makes and attempts leading the team and ranking within the top-101 in Division-III women's basketball. Steady all season, McMillan averaged 13.3 points on a .510 field goal percentage with 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals for the Quakers in conference contests.
Bayer receives her first All-ODAC nod for Guilford at the conclusion of a breakout sophomore season. Playing in all 26 games with 25 starts, the Frenchwoman finished second on the squad with 12.4 points and 1.7 assists while shooting .447 from the field, second-best on the team, while pacing the Quakers with 24 three-point makes. Slotting tenth in the conference in scoring, Bayer was an effective three-level scorer as an off-ball guard for GC. She was also a player one would want with the ball in her hands down the stretch of close games as her .846 free throw percentage easily led the team and was second in the ODAC. Defensively, she accumulated 49 steals and ten blocks while on the glass, Bayer secured 2.9 boards per game. In league action this season, Bayer netted 10.8 points per game on .422/.346/.857 from the field while adding 2.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.6 steals.
The Quakers, completed the season 15-11 overall and 9-7 in ODAC action, finishing sixth in the standings. They saw their season come to a close at the hands of Washington & Lee on Tuesday in the ODAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
