Box Score

LEXINGTON, Va. (11/23/10) -- Defending league champion Washington and Lee University held off Guilford College's second-half rally to take a 72-64 win in both teams' Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener Tuesday night.

Meg Ingram and Kari Pfannenstein both scored nine first-half points to stake the Generals (2-1, 1-0 ODAC) to a 36-22 halftime lead. The advantage grew to 17 on an Allie Long three-pointer 2:48 into the second half, but Guilford (2-2, 0-1 ODAC) rallied behind senior Lauren LeFevers.

Trailing by 15 with 10:03 left, LeFevers made two of four second-half three-pointers during a 13-2 Guilford run that drew the Quakers to within 58-52 with 5:04 remaining in the game. Her layup with 26 seconds left made it a 68-64 contest, but Guilford drew no closer.

Ingram led four Washington and Lee students in double-figure scoring with 15 points and shared team-high honors with eight rebounds. Long and Pfannenstein both finished with 12 points and Katy Wilson contributed 11 points, eight boards and four assists.

LeFevers posted a double-double with 24 points and career-best 13 rebounds, both game highs. She scored second-half 18 points and made six-of-12 three-pointers. Rookie Morgan King contributed 11 points and eight caroms for the Quakers.

Guilford hosts Emory & Henry College Monday (11/29) in a 7:00 p.m. ODAC game.
