Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – Shannon Allan scored a game-high 18 points, including the go-ahead basket with 4:49 left in regulation, in Lynchburg College's 52-46 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball win Saturday afternoon.
Allan had 11 first-half points as the host Hornets (11-6, 6-2 ODAC) took a 28-20 halftime lead. The Quakers (9-7, 3-5 ODAC) battled back behind 10 second-half points by Anais Weatherly. Kali Cuttaia's layup midway through the second half capped a 35-34 edge, Guilford's first second-half lead.
The lead went back and forth for the next five minutes before Allan's go-ahead bucket. After Allan's score, Guilford missed seven of its next nine field goals as the Hornets ended the game on a 10-4 run.
Chaney Forbush added 13 points, a game-high 11 rebounds and three blocks for Lynchburg, which helped the Hornets to a 22-12 interior scoring edge. Sammi Goldsmith also had 11 boards, plus a game-high five assists.
Brittany Drew's 11 points off the bench paced Guilford. Weatherly added 10 rebounds to her 10 points for her team-best eighth double-double of the season. Teammate Lauren Ramsey also scored 10 points.
Guilford visits Hollins University Wednesday (1/28) in another ODAC game.
