Track and Field Breaks Personal Records and Barriers at Aggie Invitational

Quakers rack up personal bests & top ten javelin finish during high-energy weekend at NC A&T

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Guilford College track and field team took a hop, skip, and a jump to North Carolina A&T State University on Friday evening and all-day Saturday to compete in the Aggie Invitational.
 
Bess Parnell (Cairo, Egypt) placed 56th overall in the 400m dash with a personal record of 1:08.89. She also took part in the long jump with a measurement of 4.14m, placing 51st. Piper Campbell (Wilmington, N.C.) walked away from the invitational with a PR in the 800m run with a time of 2:48.90 while Jasmine Cartwright (Kalispell, Mt.) held her own and cracked the top ten in the javelin with a throw of 29.57, a personal best and placing ninth.
 
On the men's side, there was plenty of action starting with Ahmaad Abdul-Haqq (Greensboro, N.C.) partaking in the 200m dash and long jump. He left the sand with a jump of 6.28, a new PR, and had a time of 23.99, another personal best. Jaden Jones (Rocky Mount, N.C.) was the first Quaker to break the tape in the 400m in 32nd place with a time of 50.98, surpassing his previous record. Kendel Lowe (Winston-Salem, N.C.) was due next in 50th place with a time of 53.99 while Yassine Allam (Holly Springs, N.C.) was right on his heels with a time of 54.00 in 51st place. Enzo Geremski (Winston-Salem, N.C.) was in the top 20 in the 400m hurdles at 1:03.18 in 16th place and Jeremy Harway (Apex, N.C.) ran a 1:06.74 in the same event and finished in 20th. In the mid-distance race, JC Yañez (Thomasville, N.C.) ran the 800m in 2:29.83.
 
Transitioning to the men's field events, Akeem Kaiuway (Greensboro, N.C.) placed 35th in the discus and 33rd in the shot put. He threw a 25.55m in the discus and a 7.19m in the shot put. Cedric Blowe (Indian Trail, N.C.), Marcus Tate (Atlanta, Ga.), and Seth Almand (Barre, Vt.) placed 27th, 38th, and 39th, respectively. Blowe gave a leap of 6.15m while Tate jumped 5.70m and Almand recorded 5.68m.
 
The final stop for the Quakers is in Forest, Va. where the ODAC Championships will take place, hosted by Eastern Mennonite University. The two-day, all-day event will be on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26.
