FOREST, VA. - The Guilford College track and field team took part in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships, hosted by Eastern Mennonite University on Friday and continuing throughout Saturday.
The Quakers earned top-ten finishes in the men's relays as well as the men's and women's javelin events.
The men had plenty of help to represent Guilford in numerous events. Starting off with the 400m hurdles, it was
Enzo Geremski (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and
Jeremy Harway (Apex, N.C.) who secured a spot in the top 20, placing 13th and 15th, respectively. Geremski finished with a time of 1:03.81 while Harway finished out his freshman year with a bang (and a personal record) with a time of 1:05.19. The relay teams cleaned up for the Quakers as the 4x400m earned their season best alongside placing eighth and the 4x100m broke into the top ten. The 4x400m relay team consisted of
Jaden Jones (Rocky Mount, N.C.),
Kendel Lowe (Winston-Salem, N.C.), Geremski, and
Yassine Allam (Holly Springs, N.C.). This team raced a time of 3:35.13. As for the 4x100m, they placed ninth thanks to
Jadyn Swinson (LaGrange, N.C.), Jones,
Jerome Moore (Mount Olive, N.C.), and
Cedric Blowe (Indian Trail, N.C.) with a time of 44.40.
Kayden Gaddist (Summerville, S.C.) powered into the top ten in the javelin, placing eighth with a throw of 41.54m. The long jump saw
Ahmaad Abdul-Haqq (Greensboro, N.C.) and Blowe as they finished right behind each other, placing 16th and 17th, respectively.
Abdul-Haqq had a leap of 6.03m while Blowe jumped 6.02m.
Akeem Kaiuway (Greensboro, N.C.) placed 24th in the shot put with a throw of 6.68m.
On the flip side, there were two female Quakers that made their mark and contributions to the team score in the championships:
Bess Parnell (Cairo, Egypt) and
Jasmine Cartwright (Kalispell, Mt.). Parnell was the lone wolf for the Quakers in the 400m hurdles and placed 13th overall with a time of 1:16.34, a personal record. Cartwright threw a 28.20m in the javelin, cracking the top ten by placing ninth.
This concludes Guilford's 2024-2025 season.
