Moore’s Superb Weekend Claims ODAC Offensive Player of the Week for Volleyball

Senior swings with efficiency, effectiveness, becoming first Quaker to seize honor since 2019

FOREST, Va. – With a weekend surge in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action, Natalie Moore (Talbott, Tenn.) became the first Guilford College volleyball player to seize a conference weekly honor since 2019, netting ODAC Offensive Player of the Week recognition for the week ending on October 19th, as announced by the conference offices on Monday afternoon.

The two-time All-ODAC honoree is no stranger to league recognition, but claims her first ODAC weekly honor with terrific performances for the Quakers. All told, across the Quakers' three matches that saw them go 2-1 and win eight of their 11 sets, Moore racked up 46 kills while swinging .288 (46-111, 14 Err.), tacking on 29 digs, six total blocks, four assists, an ace, and 46 receptions on 48 attempts (.958 Rec%). All that worked out to 4.18 kills, 2.64 digs, and 4.18 receptions on a per-set basis.

With a more-passive open to the week, the senior showcased her defensive mastery with 11 receptions without an error to go with 10 digs and a couple block assists for the Quakers, while finishing with seven kills in a Guilford sweep of Division-II Johnson C. Smith University. Hitting the road for conference action over the weekend, Moore really made her mark. In another Quaker sweep, this time of Eastern Mennonite University, she swung .237 on her way to 14 kills while adding an ace, a block assist, six digs and a dozen receptions against two errors in GC's victory. She finished her week with arguably the best match of her collegiate career, doing everything in her power to will Guilford to a victory at Shenandoah University. Notching a double-double with 25 kills, her career-high for a match against an NCAA foe, along with 13 digs, Moore swung at a .400 rate while also contributing three block assists and went errorless over her 23 receptions, although ultimately GC would fall to the Hornets in a five-set thriller.

On the season, Moore paces Guilford and ranks second in the conference in points, with 288.5, while also ranking fourth in kills, with 236, and tied for seventh with 36 service aces as one of the most well-rounded players the ODAC has to showcase.

This is Moore's first-career ODAC weekly honor as a Quaker has not taken home a league weekly recognition since 2019 when Tina Eucker '20 claimed ODAC Player of the Week recognition for the week that concluded on October 21st of that season.
